Bang by William Butler is fantastic thriller, suspense, noir fiction novel that plays great homage to classic hardboiled crime fiction. The books starts off when the wife of Tim Jones, who are in the middle of a separation, finds her husband shot in the face. At first considered a suicide, clues begin to add that Tim may have been shot by someone. The suspects are Frank, Tim’s best friend who had an affair with his wife, Tim’s wife herself, Shelley, and even Tim’s promiscuous, alcoholic, aging mother, Dina, who hates Tim to the core. William Butler characters all to seem to have their own motives to want Tim dead and he keeps you guessing by giving hints that keep changing who you have as your main suspect. Bang has been described as “a dirty version of Clue” and it really lives up to that description. Hints are placed throughout the book to who may be involved in the attempted murder of Tim Jones but the true person behind will keep you guessing till the very end. I recommend this book written by an author who I think we will be hearing very much of soon. Pick up Bang.
P.S. You will not be able to stop reading by the end of Chapter Nine!
